Activities Updates for the Burke Extension Master Gardeners

Our Meetings: The  Burke EMGVA meets monthly to plan activities and to learn new ideas and gardening techniques. Unless otherwise notified, we meet on the 4th Monday of each month, January through November. Members of the current Master Gardener class are reminded that they are invited to attend the meetings.  In December, we always gather for our year-end holiday celebration, which includes a covered dish meal, lots of delicious desserts, and great fellowship with other Master Gardeners and their guests.  The minutes of each regular meeting are posted on the Members Only page.

Master Gardeners, remember to enter your volunteer hours on www.ncsugarden.com.

Each year, from mid-January through mid-April, a class for prospective Master Gardeners from Burke County is held at the Cooperative Extension Office.  Classes are held each Wednesday, beginning at 9 a.m., and run for three hours.  Total classroom time is 40 hours, and graduates are expected to perform 40 hours of volunteer activity during the year.  Class members are also encouraged to attend the monthly meetings of Burke EMGVA, and to participate in other activities as well.  They can keep up with the activities that are scheduled by checking the MG Events Calendar page on this website.

In 2017, as in previous years, many hours of volunteer work were donated by Extension Master Gardener Volunteers to the community.  There are pictures of Burke County Master Gardeners in action on various pages of this website.   Take a look and you will see how busy we are, but know that we love what we do, and are very proud to serve the Burke County community.
